Vacuum Excavation Project: Gas Utilities

The PIER (UK) team proved to be essential for safety on a Vacuum Excavation project in which support was required for the local gas network provider.

The gas provider was aware of a leak but urgently needed to get to the mains in order to locate the issue and repair it quickly. With several high voltage electric cables and telecommunication lines near the gas main, a safe excavation solution was needed.

Suction Excavation for Safety

The Vacuum Excavator’s remote-controlled suction arm allowed the ground to be cleaned in order to expose the gas main without risking striking any services. By using Vacuum Excavation, the team eliminated the need for manual or mechanical digging and reducing the likelihood of buried services of being damaged or struck.

A Quick Location and Repair

The fast Vacuum Excavation allowed the ground to be cleared quickly so that the gas main could be repaired and back in action with causing too much inconvenience to local residents.

An Example of Safe Excavation
