Vacuum Excavation Project: Utilities Excavation For Bridge Reinforcement

PIER (UK) were asked to take part in a Vacuum Excavation project when extensive refurbishment works went underway in order to improve rail services, the contractors also took the opportunity to strengthen the existing bridge.

With numerous utilities buried under the bridge’s road surface including gas, water, electric and telecommunication lines, the safest option for utility excavation was required.

Our Vacuum Excavator provided the ideal solution to expose the buried services and to allow the contractors to lay the new bridge reinforcements. Vacuum Excavation was specifically chosen as the equipment is less intrusive compared to the more traditional options and will reduce the risk of damage to the bridge structure and buried services.

Operators excavated metres upon metres of ground to safely expose all the services lines, efficiently completing the work without any delays or damage to the bridge. This was another Vacuum Excavation project that was completed successfully.
