A PIER (UK) Vacuum Excavator was used by a well-known water company for a Vacuum Excavation project that required checking for hidden services within a built-up area.
The job took place in Tamworth where the customer was working on the installation of a Weir pipe in order to prevent further flooding to the area. The Vacuum Excavator was used to create a test hole to establish whether there were any concealed services that could prevent the work from taking place.
Vacuum Excavation offered the very best solution for this project as the work was taking place in a busy and congested area, therefore it carried a much greater risk of encountering buried services. Any services that were uncovered needed to be excavated around with care and precision to minimise the risk of personal injury or costly service strikes. Work also needed to be completed quickly and efficiently so that local traffic wasn’t disrupted for longer than necessary.
Due to the high-powered remote-control arm, Vacuum Excavators are able to expertly and precisely lift the ground away from the buried services without causing any damage and carries a much lower risk of on-site worker accidents. The spoil is safely stored in an inbuilt skip within the truck, reading to be deposited later in the day. This ensures that the area around the site remains clean and tidy, whilst minimising any mess related complaints from surrounding residents.
