The Challenge
Pier (UK) LTD was appointed to safely expose existing electric and water services within a live water treatment centre in Manchester. With critical infrastructure operating throughout the site, the client required a non-destructive excavation method that would minimise the risk of damaging buried utilities while allowing engineers to accurately identify the location of existing assets.
Working in an operational water treatment facility meant safety, precision and minimal disruption were essential throughout the project.
The Solution
Our experienced vacuum excavation team used one of our standard 24t machines to carefully remove soil around the buried services. By combining high-pressure air with powerful vacuum technology, we were able to expose both electrical and water infrastructure without the need for traditional mechanical digging.
The works were completed efficiently, providing the client with clear visibility of the underground services while maintaining a safe working environment and protecting critical assets.
